Global warming has detrimental effects on seaweed forests, leading to reduced fish populations and a loss of habitat. The decline in the annual catch of wild fish—historically used as feed in aquaculture for species like shrimp—poses a critical threat to the aquaculture industry. This decline augments the demand for alternative feed ingredients.
Introduction to BIGgrow.fish by Climate Foundation Inc.
To bolster primary production and natural food availability in aquaculture ponds, Climate Foundation Inc. offers an eco-friendly liquid nutritional supplement named BIGgrow.fish. This product is designed to cultivate "Lab-lab" algae for milkfish and tilapia, as well as plankton for shrimp. By doing so, it aims to reduce the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and increase revenue for farms while lowering input costs.
BIGgrow.fish consists of an organic liquid formulation derived from cold-pressed red and brown seaweeds, fortified with organic and alkalinity management stabilizers.
Application Guide
Shake well before use.
Apply an initial of 6 liters diluted in 200 liters barrel drum using pond water.
After 1 week, apply an additional 2 liters as a booster.
Apply only during sunlight.
Broadcast the diluted BIGgrow.fish evenly on a surface of the pond.
Dewatering should not be done for at least 1 week after the application of BIGgrow.
OPTIONAL:
Dressing is recommended at least 2 liters per month in order to continue continuous growth of photosynthetic feed supplement.
Pond Preparation Guide
INITIAL CLEANING :
After harvest, sun-dry the pond until it exhibits cracks. This process thermally decomposes residues. For intensive shrimp cultivation, manual removal of excess organic matter may be necessary to prevent gas evolution and premature plankton bloom, which can lead to an early collapse of the plankton population. As an alternative, the use of probiotics and enzymes can facilitate the decomposition of organic residues.
pH MONITORING :
Test the pH level of the pond sediment. If it falls below 7, apply agricultural lime at a rate of 1-2 tons per hectare. For pH levels below 5, an application of 2-3 tons agricultural lime per hectare may be necessary.
NUTRIENT ENRICHMENT :
If your pond is deficient in organic matter, apply processed chicken dung or cow manure as a nitrogen source at a rate of 500-1,000 kg per hectare.
WATER TREATMENT FOR MILKFISH OR TILAPIA :
Add 10 cm of water to the pond, ensuring sunlight penetration. Dilute 6 liters of BIGgrow in 200 liters of water, the volume of a standard barrel drum. Use a bucket to evenly distribute the solution across the surface water. Over one week, gradually increase the water depth to its maximum capacity, then administer an additional 2 liters of BIGgrow as a Lab-lab or Lablum growth booster.
Water Treatment for Shrimp :
For semi-intensive and intensive shrimp farming, introduce water to a depth of 80 cm to 1 meter. Apply BIGgrow following the same dilution ratio of 6 liters per 200 liters of water. One week later, administer an additional 2 liters to boost plankton growth.

Use 15-20 ppm of tea seed powder to eliminate unwanted species three days prior to stocking
